A market visit and a cook along with Chef Akasha Richmond and her group from LA was conducted on the 16th of January, 2017 We spent an inquisitive hour at Crawford market and shopped for Indian vegetables, fruits and spices. We sampled gooseberries, inhaled the fragrances of fresh turmeric and bought dried figs on a rope. Then the chefs and restaurateurs were escorted to an Indian home where we welcomed them with jaljeera and paanipuris and cooked along some authentic dishes famous in Lucknow and Kolkata to mark the inter city marriage of the hosts. Post the cook along wherein everybody pitched in to make Awadhi kebabs, Beckty paturi, paneer vegetable peshawari and notun gur-er payesh we enjoyed a sit down meal with the host family and their fathers. The food was served in bronze crockery on banana leaf mats. This event was co hosted by Peppercorns and Travellingspoon.com. Akasha and her other chef friends absolutely loved the evening and they expressed their enjoyment with grateful testimonials. The evening was a gorgeous one, one to always remember by everybody present.
